The S3 Conference 2025, organized by the European Commission with the support of the S3 CoP Secretariat, will take place on June 18, 2025, in Brussels, Belgium. It will bring together S3 practitioners, experts, and policymakers to discuss key aspects of Smart Specialisation and its role in driving regional economic transformation. The program will be structured around four main pillars:
Latest developments in S3: insights into the latest developments and connections to key
policy initiatives S3 Community of Practice: an overview of achievements, activities, and lessons learned over the past three years S3 and interregional collaboration: opportunities for collaboration, support mechanisms, and success stories from thematic platforms.
Taking stock of S3 implementation and outlook: assessment of Smart Specialisation
strategies for 2021-2027 and perspectives for the years ahead.
The conference will be held in person with a live online broadcast, while side events on June 17 and 19 will focus on thematic platforms, innovation diffusion, and industrial transitions.
As Smart Specialisation continues to shape regional development, projects like TWIN SYNERGIES are working to bridge funding opportunities and enhance innovation in regions with lower R&I performance.
