Cross-Fertilisation Workshop on Policy Dialogue – Stuttgart, 4 February 2026

On 4 February 2026, Steinbeis Europa Zentrum will host the Twin Synergies Cross-Fertilisation Workshop on Green and Digital Transformation in Stuttgart, back-to-back with the Capacity2Transform Transferability Conference. This event will bring together policy actors, project partners, and stakeholders to foster dialogue and collaboration on Green and Digital Transformation.

The workshop aims to create a dedicated platform for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and synergy-building among initiatives working on innovation and transformation. Through presentations and interactive sessions, participants will explore systemic gaps, identify opportunities for cooperation, and co-create solutions that align project results with governance needs.

Connection to Twin Synergies Project

The organised Cross-fertilisation workshop is part of Work Package 5 (WP5) of the Twin Synergies project, which focuses on enhancing synergies at the governance level by encouraging policy dialogue and cross-fertilisation. Specifically, Task 5.2 aims to set the stage for improved collaboration, capitalisation, and knowledge transfer between different Priority Areas of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR).

The first Cross-Fertilisation Workshop, held last year in Novo Mesto by colleagues from the Development Center of Novo Mesto (RCNM), successfully introduced this collaborative format as participants engaged in panel discussions and World Café rounds, addressing key questions related to the European framework and trends, such as:

  • What are the main challenges in policy alignment?

  • Which solutions can foster better cooperation?

  • Who should take responsibility for implementation?

This approach was proven highly effective in generating actionable insights and reinforcing the alignment between projects and policy frameworks as follows:

  • Key findings revealed several critical challenges:

  • Low knowledge-transfer rates across Europe

  • Prolonged and high-risk R&D cycles

  • Significant gaps in entrepreneurial skills among researchers

  • Capital intensity and persistent funding barriers

  • Slow market adoption of deep-tech solutions

This second cross-fertilisation workshop will adopt a new orientation, focusing on the objectives of Priority Areas 8 and 3. It will emphasize mutual support among stakeholders, enriched by insights from policy actors in Baden-Württemberg and their perspectives on this shared cause, thereby contributing to the aim of Task T5.2 and creating synergies at the governance level.
